Peter: The Gift of Health
When Peter, a Great Pyrenees mix, came to Mountain Pet Rescue, he was a heartbreaking sight. He was 30 pounds underweight, his coat was patchy from dermatitis, and his back legs had weakened from months of neglect.
The Struggle
Tests showed he was battling multiple conditions: a heartworm infection, ehrlichia (a tick-borne disease), and painful hip luxation—likely from being hit by a car and never treated. Without immediate intervention, his chance of survival was slim.
The Turning Point
Thanks to donors, Peter received urgent veterinary care. He was treated for parasites, given medication, and underwent FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery to repair his hip. His foster family worked patiently with him through physical therapy, encouraging every small step forward.
The Outcome
Today, Peter is healthy, pain-free, and finally able to enjoy life as a dog should—running, playing, and cuddling with his new adoptive family. His transformation from starving and sick to strong and spirited is living proof of what donor support makes possible.
